Sitting at a corner table near the dance floor, Brit talked to her friends, but didn’t appear to be moved by the music…perhaps she was waiting for a Morrissey track? She later got up and browsed through the DJ’s selections, requested a few songs, and dance-walked her way back to her seat. Though she cracked a few smiles, Brit was definitely her party’s pooper, finding her coke drink more entertaining than anything around her. After leaving Joseph’s at 1:28 a.m., the gang went to a Carl’s Jr. drive-through for some late night snacks. There, the paparazzi who followed were treated to Brit’s version of ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s recent table-turning photography, though this time, no one was called an a-hole. We guess there was something cheery about Britney’s night after all! With all eyes on Paris Hilton being released from jail, it would seem that Monday was the perfect opportunity for Brit and her pals (cousin Alli included, of course) to hit the town. But when she arrived at Joseph’s Club at around midnight, she was barely recognizable. Dressed in all black and wearing a dark wig under a newsboy hat, Britney looked more high school goth than international popstar.

In a 10 minute phone call to be broadcast on E!, Hilton says, "I'm much more grateful for everything that I have, even just to have a pillow at night or food. In a way, I'm really glad this happened, because it changed my life forever. I just realize that the media used me to make fun of and be mean about it. Frankly, I'm sick of it. Hilton Writes to Fans From Jail
E! Online obtained one of the letters Hilton has sent back to a well-wisher, in which she writes, "I read your letter and just wanted to thank you for your kind words of love and support. The fact that you took time out of your day to write me truly means the world. Especially at such a difficult and scary time in my life. But I am being strong and trying to make the best out of the situation. And the letters I'm receiving really do put a smile on my face as I sit here in my cell, sad and alone." A representative for Hilton confirms the letter was written by the hotel heiress, adding, "She has been trying to respond to her fans as they write, personally." Winfrey Voted Most Powerful Celebrity
Winfrey, whose chat show is watched by 30 million viewers each week, regained her top spot - which she lost last year to Tom Cruise - with estimated earnings of $260 million. A Forbes spokeswoman says, "A combination of strong financials and her enduring influence on the U.S. public, which could see her affecting the outcome of next year's U.S. elections, is enough to propel her back into the top spot." Survey: "Hilton Serving More Time Than Average"
When the hotel heiress was sent back to jail last Friday, after a judge reversed a decision allowing her to complete her sentence under house arrest, Hilton's lawyer confirmed she would serve the full 23 days behind bars. The Los Angeles Times analyzed two million jail releases and found 1,500 cases since July 2002 that involved circumstances similar to Hilton violating her probation on a drink-driving conviction. Of these, researchers found the average sentence was 14 days - nine less than Hilton's - and inmates were released after serving an average four days in jail.Socialite Paris Hilton will end up spending longer in jail than most inmates locked up for similar offences, according to a survey carried out by the Los Angeles Times. Critics have claimed the 26-year-old is receiving preferential treatment inside - but the results of the survey reveal Hilton will serve more time than 80 percent of people jailed for similar drink-driving crimes.

Hilton Learns "Bitter" Lesson, Withdraws Appeal
Paris Hilton has acknowledged the "bitter, but important lesson" her recent legal troubles have taught her - and has decided not to appeal the decision to put her back behind bars. The hotel heiress was sent back to Los Angeles' Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California on Friday to finish the 45-day sentence she began last Sunday night - after a judge reversed the decision to allow her to complete the sentence under house arrest. Hilton's legal team were reportedly preparing to challenge Los Angeles judge Michael T. Sauer's ruling, but have dropped the case at The Simple Life star's request. She was jailed for violating her parole following a 2006 drink driving arrest.
In a statement issued Saturday night, Hilton says, "Today I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge's decision. While I greatly appreciate the Sheriff's concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge. This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience. As I have said before, I hope others will learn from my mistakes. I have also had time to read the mail from my fans. I very much appreciate all of their good wishes and hope they will keep their letters coming." And Tmz.com alleges the 26-year-old is on the verge of a nervous breakdown - she is reportedly on suicide watch in the medical ward of the L.A. jail.

Hilton Ordered Back to Prison
A judge has ordered Paris Hilton back to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence for a parole violation, after a frenzied roundelay of events that saw the socialite released from prison to house custody, only to be ordered back to court the next day. According to witnesses, she was taken from the courtroom while crying and screaming for her mother. A Los Angeles judge had earlier stepped in and ordered her to appear at a court hearing Friday - after she was reportedly given permission to sit in on the hearing via the phone. Lawyers representing the socialite have been locked in a battle with the Los Angeles City Attorney and the Sheriff's Department over whether she could be allowed to stay at home for the hearing following her release from jail yesterday.
After initially reporting that she had been granted permission to phone in her appearance, TMZ.com reported that Judge Michael T. Sauer has ordered Hilton to appear in court Friday afternoon and dispatched a car to pick her up from her Hollywood home. Hilton was in floods of tears when she left her home, handcuffed, to attend the court hearing in the back of a police car. Prosecutors appealed the decision to release Hilton on house arrest yesterday, which would have allowed her to finish her sentence for violating probation at home. Los Angeles Sheriff Lee Baca insists the decision was made on medical grounds, but critics believe she was granted preferential treatment. The 26-year-old was serving a 23-day sentence in Los Angeles' Century Regional Detention Center for violating her parole following a 2006 drunk-driving arrest.

Hilton's Early Release Slammed by L.A. City Attorney
Delgadillo says in a statement: "Today I was extremely troubled to learn that the Sheriff's Department has decided to release Ms. Hilton from custody just three days after she was admitted to county jail. Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds. I am also concerned that the judicial process may have been improperly circumvented in this case. I have directed my criminal branch to immediately explore all possible legal options to ensure that the law is being applied equally and justly in this case. If law enforcement officials are to enjoy the respect of those we are charged with protecting, we cannot tolerate a two-tiered jail system where the rich and powerful receive special treatment." Civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton is also highly critical of Hilton's early release. He says, "This early release gives all the appearances of economic and racial favoritism that is constantly cited by poor people and people of color. There are any number of cases of people who handle being incarcerated badly and even have health conditions that are not released."The decision to release Paris Hilton from jail yesterday after just three days inside has been slammed by Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo. Delgadillo is furious the Sheriff's Department didn't consult him before permitting Hilton's release on medical grounds. The socialite was serving a 23 day sentence in the Century Regional Detention Center for violating her parole following a 2006 drunk-driving arrest. Hilton has been fitted with an ankle bracelet and will now serve 40 days under house arrest.

Paris Tagged and "Reassigned"
Whitmore said, "Paris Hilton will be reassigned to a community-based, alternative to custody electronic monitoring program. This means that she has been fitted with an ankle bracelet and sent home and will be confined to her home for the next 40 days." Details of the medical issue which forced Hilton's dramatic release are confidential, Whitmore added, but the decision was reportedly approved by doctors who examined the celebrity inmate yesterday. Although Hilton is officially confined to her home under the tagging system, her electronic ankle bracelet allows movement to a range of 3,000 to 4,000 square feet.Paris Hilton has been fitted with an ankle bracelet and put on house arrest over fears for her health in jail. The socialite, who was serving a 23 day sentence in Los Angeles' Century Regional Detention Center for violating her parole following a 2006 drunk-driving arrest, was sent home earlier today, Steve Whitmore, a spokesperson for the County Sheriff's Department, said at a press conference. He revealed Hilton was issued with an ankle bracelet and released from prison at 2:09 am local time. As a result of her early release, the hotel heiress' sentence has been returned to the 45 days initially agreed in court. This will be served at her home and under the supervision of the Los Angeles Probation Office. She has already served five days.

Hilton: "I'm Ready To Face the Consequences"
She says: "After reading the media's coverage of my court hearing, I feel the need to correct what I believe are misperceptions about me. I absolutely realize how serious driving under the influence is. I could not live with myself if anyone was injured or killed while I was driving while impaired. Clearly, no one should - no matter how slightly. I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. No one is above the law. I surely am not. I do not expect to be treated better than anyone else who violated probation. Prosecutors Recommend Hilton Spend 45 Night in Jail
Hilton, 26, was spotted driving along Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles on February 28 without her headlights on.
